Elise Becker has been appointed Vice President Asia-Pacific for the Lufthansa Group Airlines, effective 1 May 2021. In her position, Mrs. Becker will be responsible for directing all commercial activities of the Group’s premium airlines Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, and Austrian Airlines. This includes managing and strategically developing all airline joint ventures and partnerships in the region.

“We are delighted to win an accomplished leader like Elise Becker as our new airline chief in Asia-Pacific,” says Stefan Kreuzpaintner, Senior Vice President Global Sales Lufthansa Group. “She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise in the airline industry as well as the needed perseverance in these challenging times for Asia-Pacific which includes some of our most important markets worldwide.” Mr. Kreuzpaintner emphasizes that Lufthansa Group and its airlines were among the strongest non-Asian carriers in the region before the Coronavirus pandemic hit the industry. “I am confident we will regain this position as soon as possible with Elise Becker at the helm of our Asia-Pacific airline business.”

Elise Becker will assume her new position at Lufthansa Group’s regional headquarter in Singapore. She succeeds Alain Chisari who has been assigned a new role within the Lufthansa Group sales organization.

“I feel honored and privileged to have the opportunity to drive Lufthansa Group’s airline business in Asia-Pacific — a region that is a global powerhouse and arguably the most vibrant and innovative area worldwide,” says Elise Becker. She emphasized that key macroeconomic data show the region is not only starting to recover from the Coronavirus crisis but is set to be the first one to do so. “As Lufthansa Group, with our premium brands Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines, we are looking forward to being part of this dynamic and returning to the region with an increasing number of flights for our valued customers.”

In doing this, Elise Becker highlights the importance of tailor-made approaches to each and every country. “A one-size-fits-all strategy for Asia-Pacific won’t work,” she says. “It is important to respect the region’s rich cultural diversity, its people and, consequently, individual customer preferences in each market.”

Elise Becker points out that partnerships will be an equally important factor for the Lufthansa Group Airlines to regain their former strength in Asia-Pacific. “In these unprecedented times it is more important than ever to team up and strengthen the excellent ties we have with key airlines in the region. I am looking forward to building on and deepening our trusted partnerships as a cornerstone of our Asia-Pacific airline strategy.”

Elise Becker has an extensive career that spans nearly 15 years as a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and in key leadership positions within the aviation industry. This includes senior executive positions with Lufthansa Technik, LSG Group, Lufthansa Group Airlines and the Airbus parent company EADS in China. Prior to her Asia-Pacific appointment, Elise Becker was Vice President in charge of managing the entire partnerships for the Lufthansa Group’s premium airlines: Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines.

Elise Becker holds an engineering degree as well as an MBA from the renowned Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She is married and has two children.
